Defend & Maneuver Techniques

⚪ Ready
Mark 1-fatigue. Assign/clear a status from an ally/you.
⚪ Retaliate
When foes inflict fatigue, a condition, or shift your balance, they mark 1-fatigue.
⚪ Seize a Position
Engage/disengage a foe, get an advantageous position, or flee.
Foes can mark 1-fatigue to prevent this.
⚫ Divert M
This round, you can take hits for adjacent allies.
If you also Retaliate, foes mark another 1-fatigue.
🟢 Dust Stepping M
Get an advantageous position, become Favored and Prepared.
Foes can mark 2-fatigue to prevent this.
🟢 Stone Shield M*
Mark 1-fatigue. Raise a shield for an ally/you, it blocks the first attack each round. Anyone protected is Impaired. The shield cannot move, and remains in place until you remove it; it is not destroyed by attacks. You can remove the shield to pay 1-fatigue as cost for an Earthbending technique.

Advance & Attack Techniques

⚪ Strike
A foe marks 2-fatigue, a condition, or shifts their balance their choice.
If you mark 1-fatigue, instead they mark 2-fatigue or a condition your choice.
⚪ Pressure
A foe cannot choose an approach of your choice in the next round.
⚪ Smash
Mark 1-fatigue. Destroy something.

Evade & Observe Techniques When you E&O, clear 1-fatigue

⚪ Test Balance
Mark 1-fatigue. Learn a foe's principle; if you knew, shift their balance.
⚪ Bolster or Hinder
Assign a status to someone else.
⚪ Commit
Shift your balance. Next time you Live up to your principle, don't mark fatigue.

Suspicious Mind

Roll with Focus when you watch someone carefully.
10+ Ask two questions.
7-9 Ask one question.
6- Gain nothing.

Ward's Relation

When the session starts, roll with +1 for each yes:
  • Do you believe your ward listens to you more often than not?
  • Have you recently protected them or helped them with a problem?
  • Is there an immediate threat to your ward that you are aware of?

10+ Gain 2 ward points.
7-9 Gain 1 ward point.
6- Gain 1 ward point, but you're drifting apart.

Spend ward points to:
  • Take a 10+ without rolling on any move to defend or protect your ward.
  • Track you ward down even if they are hidden or avoiding you.
  • Figure out what your ward is up to without them knowing.
When you drift apart, by the end of the session, you must either:
  • Shift your balance twice toward Self-Reliance, and keep them as your ward.
  • Shift your balance twice toward Trust, and switch your ward to a new person.

Connections

Lana is my ward — they need me to have their back, end of story.

Zimo looks like they’re more than capable without my help; I’m glad some of us can take care of ourselves

Protector's Burden

When your ward marks a condition in front of you, mark fatigue or a condition.

Your ward can always call on you to live up to your principle — without shifting their balance away from center — and they take +1 to do it.

Hunted by the fire nation army who seeks to round up all the earthbenders, I am on the run to protect my younger sibling, a much better bender than I am.

My companions

Our background

Zimo met me when she spared my life in the invasion of my village, and we ran away together. I was badly injured, but we ran into Lana, who could heal me. We moved towards Ba Sing Se, to be safe from the war, but were denied entry.

We became part of a smuggling ring that we named "The Path Finders", sometimes using the codename "Providence". It is masterminded by Willow, and a key piece of it is the blind eye that Zixin turns to us.

Long Feng discovered our smuggling operation and made a proposition that we couldn't refuse. He wants us to bring back Onomu, a fire nation general who stole important war plans from the army. If we succeed, we all get official Ba Sing Se citizenship and our crimes will be overlooked.

Onomu is currently in the village of West Haiatu. She is very famous, and will be easy to recognize.

The story so far

The path goes from West Haiatu, where we start, then to the Sobei Oasis in the desert, then through Xiadi the underground city, then crosses the mining village of Laoshan, then to the Ba Sing Se outpost to meet Yanran, an official who will confirm our mission.
