Fa doesn't remember much from before his death.
It's obvious he was a musician or composer of some sort, and he still has a lot of talent.
He was cursed by his hag mother to always be anonymous; to never achieve grand things, and to never have his name remembered.
When Fa died, he was still working hard to break that curse; his stubborness kept him alive as a ghost.
But how can he achieve that now that he doesn't remember his own name?
His soul was bound to his violin, in order to inhabit a material vessel of some kind.
Regrettably, this violin was among the first things of his that were seized and sold to the highest bidder to pay off some minor debts upon his death.
The new owner, Caroline, a teenage bourgeoisie girl, was very spooked when she saw the spirit for the first time.
However, excited to experiment with the paranormal, she got over it admirably, and they soon bonded.
She doesn't know much about Fa's music or living identity, only that the violin was bought in the town of Fellsburg.
With Caroline's blessing —he did promise that he would come back to tell of the adventure— Fa took the violin and left for Fellsburg.
