This young pearl diver would sometimes keep malformed pearls rather than getting a worse price for them. His plan was to make necklaces and other jewelry out of them, which he'd sell himself. His first attempt was crude, obviously, but not without a certain charm. Eljira decided it wouldn't be worth selling, and rather opted to offer it to the goddess Ylimancha as thanks for her protection in his rather thankless diving job. The goddess blessed him then with a kineticist's spark.

Soon the ill-guarded secret got out, and his elders decided his blessing should be harnessed for the good of all. Eljira was sent to a nearby school of skysages, ardent scholars of the stars. It was very well-known in his small community; their teachings were general knowledges, their gods were celebrated. Eljira learned deeper tenets of occult magic and star signs, but his magic was just different. After a while, the sages admitted defeat, sending Eljira instead to study under a druid mentor in a neighboring province. Eljira travelled, at first with wandering doctor Jean-Luc Beauchamp, but then his companion had to stay behind to tend to the sick, so the last of the way was travelled alone.

The druid had since moved, and no one knew or would say where. Eljira found himself with no money to travel back home. Out of options, he tried his hand at a bounty job, which his kinesis let him complete easily. He had gotten a taste of the life and was addicted already: Eljira was now an adventurer.
